Wine Industry Efficiency Solutions (WIES) Program
The Wine Industry Efficiency Solutions (WIES) Program is available to qualifying small to mid-sized wineries that receive gas or electric service from PG&E. The focus of the WIES Program is to achieve lower energy usage and increased sustainability in the wine industry. The program offers participants unbiased technical service, education and support though a tailored energy management approach designed to identify, evaluate and promote the installation of energy efficiency upgrades that reduce operating expenses, improve the efficiency of facility operations and help meet winery sustainability goals.
Project evaluation can begin through a comprehensive audit or can be isolated to a specific system or vendor proposal depending on the winery’s priority and schedule. The WIES Program can work with customers and vendors to optimize the potential energy savings for a proposed retrofit. The WIES Program honors all rebates available through PG&E non-residential catalogs and provides PG&E equivalent rebate amounts for eligible projects.
The Program was established in 2006 and based on its success, is continuing as a third-party program as part of PG&E’s 2010-2012 energy efficiency portfolio.

- enrolled 173 participant wineries
- completed 147 comprehensive energy audits
- committed 210 projects to implementation
