School Energy Efficiency (SEE) Program
|The School Energy Efficiency (SEE) Program is available to qualifying public K-12 school districts in twenty-two counties in Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) service territory. The goal of the program is to reduce energy costs and improve the learning environment. The SEE Program provides technical audits, project analysis, financial incentives, and comprehensive project implementation support to help public K-12 schools install cost-effective energy efficiency measures. Professional consultants provide assistance to key decision-makers to determine the most optimal energy efficiency measures to implement in their facilities. Through a systematic evaluation, the SEE team identifies energy efficiency opportunities that provide the greatest benefit and meet the operational needs of the school district.
Established in 2004 as a PG&E third-party information-only program, the program provided comprehensive energy audits and designed a series of successful teacher workshops that provided professional development training and energy efficiency-related educational materials to integrate into teaching styles, lesson plans and classroom activities. In 2006, the program was transitioned into a resource savings program that continues into California’s 2010-2012 efficiency funding cycle.
- Since 2006, the SEE Program has:
- enrolled 186 participant districts
- completed 230 comprehensive energy audits
- committed 253 projects to implementation
