Campus Housing Efficiency Solutions (CHES) Program
| TThe CHES Program helps college and university campus housing facilities to identify and implement cost-saving energy efficiency improvements through technical analyses, financial incentives, and comprehensive installation support services. The CHES Program is working closely with Stanford University and has performed work under the program for UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz and UC Berkeley, each of which has implemented or plans to implement building upgrades as a result of the work RSG performed.
The CHES Program has been deemed a successful resource acquisition PG&E third-party program to continue into the utility’s 2010-2012 efficiency funding cycle. |
Results:
- Since 2006, the CHES Program has:
- enrolled 23 participant facilities
- completed 18 comprehensive energy audits
- committed 42 projects based on audit findings
- In addition to staff project-related work, RSG has solicited the interest and support of student sustainability organizations and specific students to assist in the identification and implementation of lighting projects throughout a number of both private and public campus housing facilities. These efforts have led to additional projects being installed that may not have been completed otherwise if student involvement was not a part of the implementation strategy. This program component will be continued and enhanced in the 2010-2012 CHES Program strategy.
